I’m Rijo John, better known as one of Mangalore’s most popular MCs. So much so, many people even recognize me by my voice alone. I’ve also made use of my gift of the gab to provide playback for the audio visual media.
Now, a few words of self introduction.
How shall I portray myself? As a passionate stage performer? An effective corporate trainer? A man with a mission to be heard? People who know me well enough would most likely describe me as a pleasant, jovial sort of fellow who keeps his word and gets along with people.
I was born and brought up in Karnataka, but it is Mangalore that I’ve made my hometown. When I landed in this vibrant coastal city of Karnataka in the year 1991, I fell in love with its charms. It is here that I studied for my Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) degree at St. Aloysius College, and that I won over 50 prizes to my credit during my college days.
Then on I have pursued a career in marketing, soon to be followed by my present tag of Training Manager for a reputed corporate. This gives me the solid base I need to fulfill my deepest desire to interact with people and connect with them.
Rijo–The MC:
Public speaking is an art itself. I discovered its joys while still a student taking part in competitions and events during my college days. The many prizes I won as the ‘Best MC’ were a reaffirmation of my innate talent to communicate to the masses using only my voice and choice of words as the ultimate medium.
For the past 25 years, I’ve been called upon to be the coveted MC for a whole lot of occasions, ranging from solemn occasions like weddings and anniversaries, to formal functions like business meets and product launches, to well orchestrated shows like beauty pageants and celebrity extravaganzas to fun events like birthday parties and new year galas. I’ve lived up to the occasion on all assignments like these and won over the audiences to the delight of the organizers.
With the advent of television, my role has extended to catering to a wider audience by way of compeering for TV programs for channels like Asianet Global, besides having appeared on the local channels on many occasions.
Rijo–The Voice over Artist:
One of my most recognized attributes is my reverberating voice, which never fails to strike a chord with my audience. More recently, the booming audio-visual media has found it opportune to use my voice to enhance their presentations.
My contribution to this process calls for accurate pronunciation, good modulation and the ability to create emotional rapport using vocal faculties alone. Over the last five years, I’ve mastered this art and am often sought after to lend my talent to provide playback voice for advertisements, documentaries and educational module presentations.
My innings as a voice over artiste has only just begun and I look forward to the challenges ahead with an eager spirit and a clear throat.
